CONTRIBUTIONS TO abonocare® CONFERENCE 2026

Adelheid Wiedemann

25.06.2026

At the occasion of the 5th annual abonocare® Conference in Dresden on 9th of June 2026, a presentation addressing

„Zirkuläre Wertschöpfung und regulatorische Anforderungen – Erfahrungen im europäischen Kontext“

(Circular Value Creation and Regulatory Requirements – Experiences in the European Context) was delivered by Adelheid Wiedemann.

The conference which was hosted by Fraunhofer IKTS and the abonocare® Cluster provided valuable insights into valorization of

biological resources and secondary biomass by means of informing on recent scientific developments,

best-practice-examples, as well as funding opportunities and regulatory frameworks.

In her presentation, Adelheid specifically highlighted challenges related to policies and stipulations with particular reference to

circular bio-based value chains that rely on waste as a resource. Details were given to various applications, such as fertilisers and plastics. Concluding her presentation, she acknowledged progress in rules towards fostering circular business models which is essential for

their future perspective.

OUTLOOK ON FUTURE LEGISLATIVE ASPECTS FOR RUSTICA NUTRIENT CYCLES

Adelheid Wiedemann

24.10.2025

A new report titled “Outlook on Future Legislative Aspects for RUSTICA Nutrient Cycles" evaluating important success factors in the EU and Colombia, developed under the responsibility of Wiedemann GmbH, is now available on the RUSTICA project website.

This recently published report identifies key hurdles and opportunities for improving the future marketing of circular fertilising products. It builds upon previous analyses of international and European policies, as well as national and regional stipulations relevant to nutrient recycling.

In addition, the results of the report on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)  — highlighting the importance of CAP Strategic Plans for the RUSTICA project — were integrated into this Outlook, providing a comprehensive view on the policy landscape shaping

agriculture and circular bioeconomy.

THE RUSTICA APPROACH – MORE THAN JUST INNOVATIVE FERTILISERS

Adelheid Wiedemann

15.02.2025

The Horizon 2020 Project RUSTICA brought up an array of fascinating results towards bio-based fertilisers in the context of                         regional circular business models in the European Union and worldwide.

A Global Workshop and the Final Conference in Leuven in November 2024 revealed the broad spectrum of valorization concepts available for leftovers from the agri-food systems by means of the RUSTICA technologies. Since the project encompassed both, technical and non-technical activities: identification of legal and political facts influencing the project constituted a core part of RUSTICA.

As the responsible partner for analyses of legal aspects, Adelheid Wiedemann representing Wiedemann GmbH, informed on her investigations in the RUSTICA project in Leuven, thereby focusing on recent developments and enormous changes in the area of  circular products towards access to the European market.
